چکیده
Newborn hamsters were inoculated either i.p. or s.c. with 0.1 to 0.2 ml of CELO. Random-bred (19) and inbred LSH/LAK (8) hamsters from our colony were used. The inoculated animals were weaned and sex segregated at 3 weeks of age. The hamsters were observed until death. Animals were sacrificed by cardiac puncture. Ascitic fluids were collected from the peritoneal cavity by syringe. In general, sera were obtained from moribund animals bearing large tumors.

The oncogenicity of chicken embryo lethal orphan virus for newborn hamsters has been confirmed. Tumor incidence was found to be a function of the titer of the virus inoculum. Fifty-four % (7/13) of the hamsters given i0@ 50% lethal dose developed tumors, while only 8% (8/99) of the hamsters given i0@ @ 50% lethal dose developed tumors. With a single exception, lower virus doses were nononco gen...
متن کاملIn Vitro Neoplastic Transformation of Hamster Embryonic Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue Cells with Small-Plaque and Large-Plaque Variants of an Avian Adenovirus (Chicken Embryo Lethal Orphan)1
When hamster embryonic skin and s.c. tissue cells were infected in vitro with small-plaque (SP) and large-plaque (LP) variants of chicken embryo lethal orphan virus, neoplastic cell lines were established. The SP cell line was made up of pleomorphic cells, whereas the LP cell line consisted of cells that were spindled to oval. The SP but not the LP cell line revealed virus-specific, intranuclea...

The light and electron microscopic appearances of four solid tumors induced in hamsters by the small-plaque variant of chicken embryo lethal orphan virus were studied. The tumors were composed of cells ranging from those that were undifferentiated to those with fibroblastic differentiation. Ultrastructurally, the neoplastic cells were characterized by nuclei with irregular contours; well-develo...

متن کاملEvaluation of the Embryonic Pathological Lesions and Efficacy of Amantadine against H9N2 Influenza Virus Using Chicken Embryo Model
Background & Aims: Various antiviral drugs such as amantadine are used to treat influenza. This drug is categorized in group C and few researches have been conducted about its toxic effects on human fetus. In the current study, the pathologic effects of the drug as well as drug efficacy in reducing influenza virus titer in the developing chicken embryo were assessed. <br ...
